"Horse and Wood" - Mongolian Horse Head fiddle (Morin Khuur) and al' Oud ("the wood" in Arabic) combine in a unique fusion of galloping Mongolian rhythms, sparkling harmonic singing, and the warm, evocative nuances of the oud, and other exotic strings. First conceived at Woodford Folk Festival 2010/11, when upon first meeting these two fine exponents of their craft found a chemistry both musically and on stage, Exploring a a range of musical possibilities including Mongolian/Arabic, Mongolian/bluegrass, Mongolian/Scottish....you get the idea! Often teaming with percussionists such as Andy Busutill and Tunji Beier, the result is always stunning and often undefinable! John and Bukhu performed with Andy Busuttil at Jenolan Caves in January 2012 in a sell out show underground with the most amazing acoustics as part of the Music of the World Concert and workshop series (musicoftheworld.org)presented by Music Hunter Projects.
